Christian Homeschooling Curriculum

The Venturan Dominion of Jemania concluded deliberating on which Christian Homeschooling Curriculum to adopt for the discipleship of its children. We thank those who participated and provided valuable feedback and advice.

The conclusion, reached in mid May 2020, was that the curriculum produced by Veritas Press was by far and away the most impressive contender in terms of pedagogy, content, and theological foundation; and an agreement has been reached as to cost & logistics. Study material has been ordered and will be implemented in the near future.

Investment of Children's Savings

The Venturan Dominion of Jemania deliberated on the best form of investment/safekeeping for money which we are putting aside for our children to give them when they're older.

(Concluded mid 2019).

Bible Translation

The Venturan Dominion of Jemania held deliberations on which translation of the Holy Bible to adopt for general use in family devotions, Scripture memorisation, etc.

Contenders (in no particular order) included:

  • Geneva Bible (GEN)
  • King James Version (KJV)
  • New King James Version (NKJV)
  • English Standard Version (ESV)
  • Revised Standard Version (RSV)
  • Common English Version (CEV)
  • New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The result:

The Authorised Version (King James Version) has been selected for general use. We consider this version to be an excellent translation of the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts, although we recognise that, like every version, it has its shortcomings. The decision was made based on a number of considerations, including the following:

  • The high integrity of the text
  • The universality of this version in culture and history
  • The classical nature of the language
  • The unlikelihood of this version to pass out of favour, being 'classical' in nature
  • The advantages in memorisation of using language which is unique from the vernacular
  • The ease with which children are able to read the language of the KJV when taught it from an early age, and the advantage which it gives them in study

The English Standard Version (ESV) has been selected for special use in Bible studies, as an additional translation for research, and for use when the language of the KJV would be a stumblingblock to the hearers.

(Concluded mid 2017).
